Here's some information about a few of the varied ministries that we support:

Serving Others Unto the Lord (SOUL) Ministries

SOUL Ministries is a food pantry that serves individuals and families in our community. SOUL Pantry is always in need of non-perishable food items, toiletries, diapers, and cleaning supplies to help serve their clients. The people who are served by SOUL are not only residents of Springdale, Greenhills, and Forest Park, but also anyone who is a member of one of the churches that support SOUL. Please continue to bring items and deposit them in the wooden collection boxes in the office hallway, outside of Fellowship Hall and in the cloakroom outside the Sanctuary. Clothing items are also received as donations, too.

The pantry hours are:  9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday mornings; 6:00-7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings; and 9:30-11:00 a.m. on the last Saturday of each month. Clients who live in the area that is served can shop once a month. SOUL Pantry serves an average of 1045 individuals per month.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer with SOUL during shopping hours or becoming part of the first Saturday of the month cleaning crew, please contact the office (513-825-3040, office@forestchapel.org) or talk to a member of the Missions Team. SOUL Ministries Caring Center Angel Wishes

Each November, Forest Chapel participates in SOUL Pantry Caring Center's Angel Wishes program. The Caring Center works with 40-50 families in a faith-based approach in order to support their movement toward self-sufficiency. For Christmas, these families are assisted with "wishes" that make a difference in their quality of life. Most of the wishes were for rent, utilities, health care, and transportation needs. In 2014, for example, Angel Wishes were granted to 42 families, representing 165 individuals.

SOUL Ministries School Supply Program

In August, school supplies are provided for school-age children of the pantry families. In previous years, as many as 200 students received school supplies through this program

Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)

Interfaith Hospitality Network is a metropolitan area program that provides food and housing for homeless families in the Cincinnati area. Forest Chapel UMC hosts IHN families several times a year. Church members participate by providing food, cooking meals, and acting as hosts to our guest families. If you are interested in volunteering to help with IHN hosting weeks, please contact the office (513-825-3040, office@forestchapel.org) or talk to a member of the Missions Team. You can also check out the IHN Cincinnati website: http://www.ihncincinnati.org/

Festival of Sharing

Every fall, the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church comes together to participate in the Festival of Sharing. The Festival of Sharing is:
  • a CELEBRATION of what God in Christ has done for us in providing the harvest, and of our year-long efforts to bring in the harvest
  • an AWARENESS of the needs of others in the world and ways to express solidarity with our sisters and brothers
  • a MOTIVATION under the power of God to be more involved in the ministries of your local church
Each year we send Church World Services kits that the congregation donates. To learn more about the Church World Service Kits visit their website at http://www.cwsglobal.org/get-involved/kits/.

The United Methodist Church sponsors six special offerings throughout the year. These offerings support a variety of missions locally, nationally and globally. Visit the UMC Giving Website to learn more about these special offerings: http://www.umcgiving.org/how-we-give#sundays
